Fire breaks out in Police Bazar building

Shillong, Oct 14: A massive fire broke out in a building in Thana Road area of Police Bazar in the city today. The cause of the fire is not yet known and large number of fire tenders rushed the spot to douse the inferno. So far, there is no report of any casualty and police are inquiring into the incident.

Informing that there was one casualty and one person was rescued, he added that two buildings were gutted in the incident.

Expressing gratefulness to the Army and Air Force for a well-coordinated efforts to bring the fire under control, he added that the fire personnel were able to control the fire at the centre and then they focused on side areas as there was a fear that it could spread to nearby peripheries.

Stating that the fire has been brought under control but yet to be extinguished fully, he added that during the fire, some roof sheets fells which is not allowing water to penetrate in the central area.

However, the fire personnel are now planning to go inside to remove the fire to clear the roof so that water can penetrate to the central areas.

” It will take whole night to extinguish the fire completely,” he added.
