Shillong, Oct 13: Eliastar Nongsiej showcased his scoring prowess with a sensational hat-trick, propelling Mylliem Lum SC to a commanding 3-0 triumph over Umpling SC in their Group C bout within the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division. The electric clash unfolded at Polo Ground on a vibrant matchday.
Nongsiej made his presence felt with precision, netting goals in the 38th, 69th, and 80th minutes, leaving Umpling SC utterly outclassed on the hallowed turf of Third Ground. Mylliem Lum’s resounding victory was the closing act of the day’s football extravaganza.
In the day’s other gripping encounters, Meghalaya Police (MLP) showcased their mettle as they narrowly edged past Nongmensong SC 2-1 in Group A. Alfostar Sunn (17’) and Ramos Ingti (75’) found the back of the net for MLP, while Shemphang Myrthong responded with a 45th-minute goal for Nongmensong at First Ground.
Meanwhile, Pomlakrai SC secured a hard-fought victory against Mawryngkneng SC in Group B, matching MLP’s scoreline. Goals came in quick succession during the second half. Phyrnaiborlang Sohtun (50’) and Sparlington Thongni (59’) celebrated for Pomlakrai, while Brokenstar Warmalai (53’) did the honors for Mawryngkneng.
Over at Third Ground, the contest between PFR Academy and Nongkseh SC concluded in a 1-1 draw. Elaan Rynjah (55’) scored for PFR Academy, with Tony Syngkli (80’) leveling the score for Nongkseh in the late stages of the match.
