GH blind footballer to represent India in Asian Para Games

TURA, Oct 22: In a proud moment for Garo Hills and Meghalaya as a whole, Klingson D marak from South West Garo Hills has been selected to represent the Country at the Asian Para Games, Hangzou 2023, which is being held at Hangzou, China from October 22 to 28.
Klingson D Marak who has had many achievements in the past, happens to be the only athlete from Garo Hills and the entire state of Meghalaya, to be drafted to the ongoing Asian Para Games.
His selection to compete in the games comes shortly after the conclusion of the Asian Games, 2023 recently.
Marak has been selected for the Indian Blind Football Team consisting of 10 players and 5 support staff. The delegation from India reportedly landed at Hangzou last evening. Being the only lucky para athlete to be selected from the State, Marak will now compete with the World’s best.
The Indian Team is slated to play China tomorrow, to be followed by Malaysia, Japan and Iran in the group league stage.
The Indian Team is being lead by Head Coach Sunil J Mathew, Assistant Coach cum Goal Guide Naresh Singh Nayal, Assistant Coach Diethozo Yhoho, Team Coordinator Muhammed Rashad and Physiotherapist Elias Raju.
