Six factory workers hurt in attack over parking dispute
New Delhi, Nov 2: Six people have been injured after being attacked by a group following an argument over the parking of a vendor-trolley in northeast Delhi’s Jafrabad area, police said on Thursday. According to a statement here, the argument broke out after a grocery store owner, Salman, at the Chauhan Bangar Wali Gali objected to the parking of the trolley outside his shop, they said. The trolley belonged to Yakub, who runs a jacket manufacturing unit on the second and third floor of the building, where the store is located, police said. Salman following the argument called a few of his associates, who allegedly barged into Yaqub’s factory with sticks and knives and attacked workers, they said.Six workers — Ashraf, Yusuf, Salman, Irfan, Nazim and Rashid — were injured in the incident, police said. They were hospitalised and they are out of danger. Police said that a case has been registered and Salman and his associate Ajmat have been arrested. (PTI)

 

13 students unconscious due to pepper spray
Srinagar, Nov 2 :Over a dozen students of a government school in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district had to be hospitalised after they fell unconscious during a self-defence event on Thursday, officials said. One of the students sprayed pepper spray during the self-defence event due to which 13 female students fell unconscious, they said.Officials said the students were immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment. According to a statement here, a self-defence event was conducted for students at Government Girls Higher Secondary School in the Handwara area of the north Kashmir district during the day. Speaking to reporters, Deputy Superintendent of Associate Hospital GMC Handwara, Dr Aijaz Ahmad, said 13 students were brought to the hospital. After treatment, their condition is stable, he said He said the students had a reaction to the spray, and that there was no need to worry. (PTI)

Rs 12 cr fraud
Bhubaneswar, Nov 2: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha police arrested a man for his involvement in a Rs 12 crore cheating case, a police official said on Thursday. The arrested man Pankaj Kumar Parida is an MBA and a director of Armada Bazar Pvt Ltd.The company floated various schemes to open marts and awarded franchises for investments ranging from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 5 crore with the assurance of high returns. After collecting more than Rs 12 crore from Odisha between February 2022 to January 2023, the company neither ran the marts nor gave the franchise promised to the investors. However, the firm did not return the money to the investors, he said. The official informed that the company has also defrauded the investors of states like Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Maharashtra other than Odisha in the same manner. Meanwhile, the EOW has seized laptops, mobile phones, money receipts and other documents and is continuing its investigation, the official added. (PTI)
