Railway police officer shot dead by wife in Gurugram
GURUGRAM, Nov 3: In a shocking incident an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Government Railway Police (GRP) was allegedly shot dead by his wife at their house in Sector 10 A on Thursday, police said.The deceased was identified as Rajbir (49), and was posted at GRP in Rewari railway station. He was living with his wife Aarti and son Anu alias Yash in Shikohpur village in Gurugram.Police said that the incident took place around 5 a.m. when Rajbir and Aarti got into a heated argument. The victim was reportedly in a drunken state and carrying an illegal weapon. Rajbir fired a shot at Aarti, leaving her injured.Police said that the weapon then fell on the bed, and she snatched it and fired three shots at Rajbir, leaving him critically injured. Yash rushed them to the hospital, where Rajbir was declared dead, while Aarti is undergoing treatment.“The role of their son is being probed while an FIR has been registered against the woman and her son. The weapon used in the offence was a country-made pistol,” said a senior police officer.In his complaint, Rajbir’s elder brother Satbir Singh has named the deceased’s wife and son as accused. An FIR has been registered under various Sections of the IPC. (IANS)

 

Man arrested for posing as CBI officer, demanding lakhs
NEW DELHI, Nov 3: The CBI has arrested a man for allegedly demanding Rs 20 lakh from a senior railway engineer by posing as an officer of the agency probing cases against him, officials said on Friday.The engineer had approached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) claiming that Sadiq Qureshi was demanding Rs 20 lakh as bribe from him, they said.The agency laid a trap and Qureshi was arrested while taking Rs 1 lakh of the bribe money from the senior divisional mechanical engineer posted in Nagpur.The arrested person was produced before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Nagpur, on Friday and remanded to CBI custody till November 6, the spokesperson said. Two women killed, 5 injured in religious function
SARAN (Bihar), Nov 3: Two elderly women died and five others were injured during a commotion at a religious congregation in Bihar’s Saran district on Friday, a senior official said.The incident took place during Gayatri Yagya at Mastichak village in Dariyapur police station area around 6 am.The deceased were identified as Ramkali Devi (65) and Parvati Devi (70), both residents of Aurangabad.Saran District Magistrate Aman Samir told PTI, “Around 150 people, mostly women, were jostling at the yagyashala to perform rituals of hawan. In the melee, the two elderly women and some other devotees fell down. However, there was no stampede, we have examined CCTV footage.” Two elderly women died in the incident and five others sustained injuries, he said, adding the injured were undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital and their condition is stated to be stable. The two deceased had health-related problems, and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem while further investigation is underway. (PTI)
