SHILLONG, Nov 4: The residents under the banner of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) have threatened to move court against Dhar Constructions for their alleged shoddy construction work of the 16 km Dawki – Amlarem – Jowai road (NH 40E; New NH 206).
The residents of the area and the JAC comprising of the HYC War Jaintia circle, Synjuk Ki Rangbha Shnong (War-Jaintia) and Association of Exporters, questioning the accountability of the company, said, “We doubt the company. We will convene a meeting next week to decide on our move to seek the intervention of the high court and file a PIL”.
An RTI finding revealed that the total sanction for the 16 km road from Nongtalang to Dawki was more than Rs 43.69 crore, JAC member and HYC president Yoodahunki Shylla said.
‘The deteriorating condition of the 16 km stretch on the national highway just two months after its construction had compelled the JAC to file for an RTI’. The company started the work last year and within two months of completion they have failed, Shylla added. He also informed that the area is devoid of a retaining walls which is one of the seven criteria and details that were not executed as per the proposal of the chief engineer (PWD).
