NONGSTOIN, Nov 9: A block level sensitisation programme on Early Child Development Mission and Rescue Mission was held at Don Bosco Hall Banglapluh, Mawshynrut, Nongstoin, on Thursday.
The programme was part of the Early Child Development and Rescue Mission which was launched by the state government.
The programme aimed to create awareness and sensitise the community on the importance of early child development and the need for rescue missions in the district.
Garod LSN Dykes, Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills, was the chief guest of the occasion along with R Kharkongor, Block Development Officer, Mawshynrut, E Tariang Pajat, DM&HO, OC Nongbri, DPO ICDS, N Warjri, Programme Manager, MECDM, besides other officers and officials from various government departments. Moreover there was the participation of Rangbah Shnong, Asha workers, Anganwadi staff, and other community members who play vital roles in enhancing the well-being and safety of children within the district.
Their active involvement and support ensured the success of the sensitization programme.
The DC, while speaking on the occasion, advised all males and females to avoid early marriage as this will affect them both mentally, physically, socially and financially. Every parent wishes their children to be healthy and prosper in the future and in order to achieve it, we must avoid early marriage, as it not only impacts the health and well-being of young girls but also affects the health of their offspring. He also emphasised on the importance of regular prenatal check-ups for pregnant women, as well as the significance of delivering a child in healthcare centres.
During the programme, the participants were enlightened about the objectives and steps of the Early Child Development Mission and Rescue Mission.
Other highlights of the programme includes, ECD Ice-Breaking Session, Brain Wiring Game, Reflection & Discussion on Brain Development Game, ECD Way Forward, Focus Group Discussion etc. which was shared and discuss by the members of Meghalaya Early Child Development Mission.
