IIM Shillong hosts BLS 2023, Golf Cup

SHILLONG, Nov 17: IIM Shillong announced the commencement of the 6th edition of the Business Leadership Summit (BLS), 2023
The summit was inaugurated by Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI), Dinesh Kumar Khara who engaged with students virtually, delivering a compelling keynote address.
Khara highlighted the advancements in the Global South, emphasizing the significance of data, artificial intelligence (AI) integration, and India’s digital leap, particularly through the Aadhaar initiative.
The two-day annual event, themed “Evolving Horizons of Global South: Navigating the Confluence of Technology, Talent, and Transformation in Indian Context,” aims to bring together 30 CXOs from various industries across the country.
The summit provides a platform for industry leaders and students to discuss and learn about various aspects of the corporate world, with a focus on India’s leading role in the evolving global landscape.
Following the BLS 2023, IIM Shillong will host the 14th Season of the ‘Learning on the Green Turf’ – The Golf Tournament starting from November 18 at the Shillong Golf Course.
This season’s Golf Cup, marking the 14th edition, is partnered with the Tourism Department, Government of Meghalaya and supported by OIL India Ltd. The integration of golf tournaments for corporate leaders is a unique blend of leadership, strategy, and decision-making.
These events underscore IIM Shillong’s commitment to fostering business leadership, sports, and the promotion of tourism in the region. Since its establishment in 2009, the IIM Shillong Golf Cup has grown into a flagship event, attracting participation from Ministers, Corporates, and Government officials.
As the summit unfolds, participants will have the unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Shillong’s Cherry Blossom season.
The event commenced with a thought-provoking Precursor Discussion on November 17 where distinguished faculty members of IIM Shillong gathered for a panel discussion centered around the summit’s theme. Prof. Sanjoy Mukherjee illuminated India’s management evolution, emphasizing unity within diversity. Prof. Rohit Dwivedi encouraged a broader perspective, beyond specific functional domains, and stressed the necessity of engaging industry leaders to address real business challenges.
The discourse covered various perspectives, including consumer insights, operational relationships, and sustainability challenges. Prof. Ashutosh Murti concluded the inauguration by highlighting the emergence of technology, setting the stage for the forthcoming discussions at the BLS.
In essence, the inauguration marked a convergence of perspectives, spanning from the evolution of management to ethical consumerism and sustainability, laying the foundation for the upcoming discussions at the Business Leadership Summit.
