London, Nov 17: A teenager who died of stab injuries in a street fight in south-west London has been identified by the Metropolitan Police on Friday as Simarjeet Singh Nangpal, a British Sikh. The Met Police said four men, aged 21, 27, 31, and 71, remain in custody after being arrested on suspicion of the murder, which occurred in the Hounslow area of London in the early hours of Wednesday. Detectives from the specialist crime unit said they continue to piece together the events leading up to the tragic death of 17-year-old Simarjeet and reassured the community of working hard to bring those responsible to justice. “We are working around the clock to find those responsible for Simarjeet’s murder, as his family members struggle to come to terms with their loss,” said Detective Inspector Martin Thorpe. Police were called to reports of a fight in progress at Burket Close, Hounslow, and attended. (PTI)
2 trains involved in an accident

Berlin, Nov 17: A high-speed train and a regional train were involved in an accident in southern Germany on Friday that left several people slightly injured, police said. Police wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that there was a “lateral contact” between the high-speed ICE train and the regional service at Reichertshausen, between Ingolstadt and Munich. The trains were being evacuated. It was found that seven people were slightly injured, according to the sources. (AP)
Massive 7.2 magnitude quake rocks Philippines
Manila, Nov 17: A massive earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted southern Philippines on Friday, with no immediate reports of damages or injuries. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the offshore quake, which occurred at 4.14 p.m. (local time), struck at a depth of 10 km, about 30 km southwest of Sarangani town in the Davao Occidental region, reports Xinhua news agency. The institute said the tectonic quake will trigger aftershocks and cause damage. There was also no immediate information if the quake had triggered a tsunami alert. The tremor was also felt strongly in the nearby areas on Mindanao island, including General Santos City and adjacent provinces. The Philippines has frequent seismic activities. (IANS)
INS Kora visits Sri Lanka
Colombo, Nov 17: INS Kora, a guided-missile corvette of the Indian Navy, has made a successful port call to Sri Lanka, the island nation’s navy said on Friday. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kora in compliance with time-honoured naval traditions after it made a port call at Colombo on Thursday, the island nation’s navy said in a statement. The ship departed Sri Lanka on Friday after the successful completion of her visit, it said. INS Kora, the 91.1 metres long vessel, is a missile corvette belonging to the Indian Navy and manned by a crew of 125, the Sri Lankan Navy statement said. During their stay on the island, the crew of INS Kora explored some of the tourist attractions in Colombo, it said. (PTI)
