SHILLONG, Nov 22: Deputy Chief Minister and NPP state president, Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday revealed that the party’s state election committee has recommended the names of the candidates for the two Lok Sabha seat in the state and forwarded them to its national president and Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma for approval.
While Tynsong did not reveal the names, party insiders have said that the election committee has recommended Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh’s name for the Shillong seat and sitting Lok Sabha member Agatha Sangma  for the Tura seat.
Tynsong said there were many aspirants for the NPP ticket from Shillong and the party’s election committee examined all names in details before recommending the two names.
Tynsong also clarified that unlike in 2019 when NPP had agreed on a common candidate with coalition partner, UDP, this time they are going solo since no such pact has been discussed.
