SHILLONG, Dec 4: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday dismissed allegations against Tura MP Agatha Sangma by Meghalaya BJP chief, Rikman Momin.
Momin had expressed discontent with the Tura MP’s performance earlier, specifically highlighting issues related to central schemes and MPLAD schemes.
The CM, in response, stood up for Agatha, saying that the NDA Government’s decision to stop MPLAD programmes during the pandemic affected the entire nation, not just the state.
“An MP’s responsibility involves numerous central schemes, and our Tura MP has played a crucial role,” he said, highlighting the wider duties of MPs, mentioning her participation in the Jal Jeevan Mission and PMGSY.
The CM emphasised that progress goes beyond MPLAD funding and urged awareness of the all-encompassing role that MPs play.
He continued, “Whenever the schemes have come in, she has implemented all of it, and it has been transparently shared.”
