SHILLONG, Dec 7: Rains have all of a sudden released their wrath on Meghalaya, all while on the sidelines the government is delaying the repair of roads in the city after asserting that it would begin the work after the end of monsoon.
Monsoon is long gone, but the pitiable state in which some roads in Shillong are, prevails.
Not robbing the government of credit for repairing some internal roads in the city, but it must be noted that main roads such as the section from Nongthymmai to Mawblei are deteriorating fast.
Unattended so far, potholes too have become an eyesore and a cause of relentless agony for commuters — one, the size of a bucket, sits notoriously on the road near Anjalee petrol pump, while smaller ones on many parts of the city continue to vex road users.
Several bylanes also long for repair in the city.
