Exhibition showcases SHG products in SGH

Tura, Dec 14: The Exhibition cum sale of Women SHG products organized by BAKDIL and supported by NABARD was on Thursday inaugurated by Baghmara Branch, Branch Manager, Kogen Laishram at BAKDIL Training Centre, Baghmara in South Garo Hills.

Speaking on the Occasion, Laishram thanked NABARD and Bakdil for supporting the Exhibition cum sale of Women SHGs products adding, it would increase the livelihood income of Women SHGs members in the district. He also assured that the bank would support those SHGs which are interested in taking loan for economic activities and requested all the SHGs members to focus on producing local products as desired by PM Modi under Atmannirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan,

District Development Manager, NABARD, Khelchandra Chongtham who also attended the programme said that exhibitions provide a unique platform for the beneficiaries to develop direct linkages with customers, understand their needs and requirements and earn additional income through sale of their local products. Chongtham also said that the programme would help to eliminate the role of middleman in marketing of rural products and that SHG members should focus on producing quality products at cheap price to attract more consumers.

Among others who attended the programme included Fr. Cyril Sangma, Director,Bakdil, Bakdil staff, the nokma of Wagesik Nokma and Women SHGs members coming from different blocks.

During the exhibition, various products of the Self Help Groups like local honey bee, pickles, local wine, local fruit juice, vegetables, traditional cloths, handicraft products etc. were showcased and put up for sale.
