SHILLONG, Dec 13: The annual winter festival, Winter Tales, is set to begin from Thursday for its fourth edition at the Ward’s Lake. The three-day event beginning Thursday offers music, intellectual discussions, local cuisines and wine and handicraft items. The festival is to be inaugurated by Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh
The ‘vocal for local’ theme for this year extends to local chefs and musicians, ensuring an authentic experience. Beyond entertainment, it aims to offer workshops, demonstrations, and panel discussions, inviting guests to delve into the nuances of Meghalaya.
The festival promises to be natural and organic by utilising bamboo and jute and minimising non-biodegradable waste.
All the participants and stall owners have to adhere to upcycling the plastic waste.
A Green Santa is also an addition this year, promoting a green and clean Christmas for all. Organised by the state’s Department of Tourism, and executed by Meghalayan Age Limited, this festival is curated by Dakti Crafts.
