EJHD Football Association launches Women League 2023

Khliehriat, Dec 14: In a milestone event, the East Jaiñtia Hills District Football Association (EJHDFA) inaugurated the Women League 2023 on Thursday at the EJDSA Artificial Turf in Khliehriat.
This marked the initiation of the women’s football league in the district, known as the Late Mary Tlang Memorial Trophy.The inaugural match witnessed a clash between Diengshynrum SC and Iongkalooh SC, with Diengshynrum SC emerging as the dominant force and securing an impressive 8-0 victory. Felicia Sympli played a pivotal role, contributing goals in the 2nd, 40th, 53rd, and 55th minutes, while Alisha Lyngdoh found the net in the 29th and 41st minutes. Evangelin Bareh added to the scoreline with goals in the 23rd and 51st minutes.In a separate encounter, Dkhiah West SC faced off against Wapung Combine SC, resulting in a 7-1 triumph for Dkhiah West SC. Russia Dkhar played a crucial part in the victory, scoring in the 17th, 24th, 60th, and 70th minutes. Batbitbha Bareh also contributed with goals in the 5th and 59th minutes, while Dakani Shylla added another in the 63rd minute. Charlin Nongtdu scored the sole goal for Wapung Combine SC in the 46th minute.The women’s football league not only showcased the skill and passion of female athletes but also fostered a sense of competition and camaraderie among the participating teams.
This event underscored the increasing popularity and significance of women’s football in the region, urging greater involvement and support for the sport.
