Community Hall at Nongbrei Nongdom inaugurated by Mawkyrwat MLA

Mawkyrwat, Dec 15: Mawkyrwat MLA, Renikton L Tongkhar inaugurated on Friday the Community Hall at Nongbrei-Nongdom village, South West Khasi Hills District in the presence of the officers from the office of the Block Development Officer, Mawkyrwat C& RD Block, Myntri of Nongbrei-Nongdom among others.
The Community Hall along with its fencing was constructed at the cost of Rs.33 lakhs through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and Rs.2.50 lakhs from the MLA scheme. Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Tongkhar instill a sense of belonging among the people regarding the assets created and provided by the government that include – roads, hall, footpaths, etc. Therefore he urged them to take good care of the hall because it belongs to the general public. Tongkhar also called upon all government departments including the office of the Mawkyrwat C&RD Block to turn its sight to the Shiliang Um Rilang area by bringing in different kinds of development activities so that it would boost up the economy of the area. He specifically called upon the Agriculture Department to focus more on the Shiliang Um Rilang area because this is one of the areas in Mawkyrwat which still have high hope and potentials in terms of agriculture. Madonna Nongsiej, Additional Project Officer, BDO Mawkyrwat called upon the general public to come forward for Adhaar enrollment in order to be able to avail the benefits under different schemes sponsored by the Government of India. She also warned that if people continue to refuse adhaar enrollment, a time will come where they will risk of losing all the schemes, entitlements and benefits from the government.
