Jowai, Dec 15: A drop-in center for senior citizens was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner West Jaintia Hills DV Lyngdoh, MCS at MCSWA Head Office, Faith Academy Campus, Moosalangkat, Salaroh Road, Jowai on Friday. The centre was sponsored by the Office of District Social Welfare, West Jaiñtia Hills in collaboration with Mih-Myntdu Community Social Welfare Association . According to a statement here, the main purpose of the centre is to give way for older persons to use it as a recreation house where they can meet and share their stories and ideas to stave off through socialisation the feeling of loneliness and being neglected by friends and families. The centre will also have board games like chess and carom-board to entertain senior citizens for cheering their hearts and psyche.
