District Magistrate promulgates Section 144 to keep water bodies clean

Williamnagar, Dec 19 : East Garo Hills District Commissioner, Vibhor Aggarwal, has promulgated Section 144 of the CrPC in the entire district with immediate effect to keep the water bodies clean by prohibiting conversion of water bodies for any other purpose, setting up new industries or expansion of existing industries near the water bodies like lakes, dumping of solid and bio-medical wastes, discharge of untreated wastes and effluents from industries, towns, villages and other human settlements, etc.

The order also said that emergent steps are necessary to be taken to prevent any pollution of water bodies and rivers to maintain cleanliness in the district.
