SHILLONG, Dec 20: Acting swiftly on the order of the High Court of Meghalaya, the state government has transferred East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa as the SP of Ri-Bhoi. Giri Prasad, the former SP of Ri-Bhoi will now take charge of East Jaintia Hills.
The High Court had on Tuesday directed the state government to transfer the East Jaintia Hills SP as he was not able to control illegal mining and transportation of coal in the district.
The transfer order was issued on Tuesday itself, a government official said.
An official from the Law Department said that the government decided against challenging the Court’s order.
Dhanoa’s transfer was not the only decision taken on Wednesday as the government transferred some more police officials.
Raghvendra Kumar MG, Spl. Superintendent of Police, CID, Shillong, has been posted as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Western Range), Tura.
Claudia Anne Lyngwa, Commandant, 1st MLP Battalion, Mawlong, has been posted as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (TAP), Shillong against the existing vacancy while Jerry FK Marak will continue as the Inspector-General of Prisons, Shillong.
Jubi G Momin will continue as the SP, Anti-Infiltration Directorate, Shillong.
Mary Gnora T Sangma will continue as the Principal, Police Training School, Umran while Vivek Syiem will continue to serve as SP (City), East Khasi Hills, Shillong.
Pawal Swapnil Vasantrao, SDPO, Sadar, Shillong has been posted as Commandant, 1st MLP Battalion, Mawiong while Pankaj Kumar Rasgania, SDPO, Dadenggre, has been posted as SP, CID, Shillong.
Vikash Varma, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Tura, has been posted as SP, SCRB, Shillong, against the existing vacancy.
CVS Reddy, Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Western Range), Tura, has been posted as the DIG, CID, Shillong, against the existing vacancy while Siddharth Kumar Ambedkar, SP, East Garo Hills District has been posted as Commandant, 5th MLP Battalion, Samanda.
Stephen A Rynjah, SP, Anti-Infiltration Directorate, Tura, is transferred and posted as the SP of East Garo Hills District, while Billy Graham Marak, Commandant, 5th MLP Battalion, Samanda, is posted as the SP, Anti-Infiltration Directorate, Tura.
