Jowai resident shines in bodybuilding c’ship

Jowai, Dec 20: Sawakani Lakiang, a 20-year-old resident of Khimmusniang, Jowai, and hailing from Tpep-Pale, has made her community and the state proud by securing significant positions in the MR & MS East India, 11th National Body Building & Fitness Championship, World Fitness Federation (India). The event took place at RB Dangayach Auditorium in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on December 15th, 16th, and 17th, 2023.
Miss Lakiang demonstrated her prowess by claiming the 2nd place in Women Sports Model and the 3rd place in the Bikini (Women) category. Her remarkable achievements have garnered attention and recognition for her outstanding performance on the national stage.
To honor her accomplishments, a felicitation program is scheduled for this evening at Jingkieng Myntdu (Jingkieng Pamblah) in Jowai. The Bouncer Association of Meghalaya (BAM) Jaintia Hills Unit, of which Sawakani is a member, is organizing the event.Sawakani Lakiang, the daughter of Irina Mary Lakiang and Wadbha Lyngdoh, belongs to Tpep-Pale, Jowai. Prior to this national triumph, she had also secured victory in a muscle contest held in Jowai.
Currently enrolled as a first-year student pursuing English Honours at Kiang Nangbah Government College, Sawakani continues to balance her academic pursuits with her passion for bodybuilding.
Expressing their gratitude, Sawakani’s parents credited the Almighty, her coach, and the support from influential figures such as DC, SP, and MLA Jowai Wailadmiki Shylla.
The BAM, a crucial part of her journey, played a pivotal role in paving the way for her success, joyfully expressed her mother.
