Rotary Club gifts blankets to Halfway Home inmates

Jowai, Dec 26: Rotary Club Jowai gifted blankets to the inmates of Halfway Home, a rehabilitation center for persons living with mental illness at Sabahmuswang in West Jaintia at a function held at the centre on Tuesday.
The rehabilitation centre is run by the Society for Urban and Rural Empowerment (SURE).
SURE secretary, H H Mohrmen gave a brief description of the organisation and the various projects it is implementing. He stated that of the six projects SURE is implementing the Halfway Home is the most challenging.
Mohrmen also mentioned that the two organisations, SURE and Rotary Club, share a common goal of serving those in need.
Vice president of the RCJ, Rotarian S K Lato lauded SURE for its service towards people living with mental illness and expressed his pleasure that he, personally, and the club could extend their helping hands to the inmates.
He also lauded the NGO for its many services towards the betterment of the society.
