SHILLONG, Dec 28: The Congress and the TMC, the two constituents of the Opposition INDIA bloc, are yet to hold discussions regarding seat sharing for the Lok Sabha elections in Meghalaya.
MPCC president Vincent H Pala on Thursday said, “We haven’t had any discussion about it yet. The party’s upper leadership will be the forum for any discussions.”
TMC state president Charles Pyngrope added that he has not yet received any communication from the party high command.
It should be noted that the INDIA bloc recently determined that seat-sharing arrangements for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections would be finalised as soon as feasible, with state-level arrangements taking precedence.
At the fourth meeting of the INDIA parties, the Congress claimed that the seat-sharing agreement could be sealed by the second week of January, but the TMC insisted that it be finalised by December 31.
