MLA urges govt to improve edn scenario

SHILLONG, Jan 6: Nongpoh MLA, Mayralborn Syiem has urged the state government to concentrate on improving the education scenario of the state, especially in rural areas.
He said that the state needs to strengthen infrastructure and provide qualified teachers at the primary level that will be in line with the New Education Policy.
Pointing out that the budget allocation earmarked by the state will be beneficial for improving infrastructure and providing trained teachers, he said there is a need to upgrade government rural schools to allow children from there to have proper education. He appreciated the initiative of the government’s fund allocation for education and hoped that more funds would be allocated. ‘Skill development is also one of the important aspects of education and it should be stressed at the LP and UP schools’. He also stressed the need to set up colleges in rural areas.
