Shillong, Jan 8: The Shillong Cricket League 3rd Division 2024 witnessed two gripping matches on Monday. In the first match, Rising CC faced off against XI Star CC in a clash that showcased intense competition.
Rising CC, winning the toss, opted to bowl first. In the 1st innings, XI Star CC posted a score of 152/7 in 20 overs. Notable performances came from batters Deepak Sahani and Kumar Biswa , who scored scored 44 runs in 26 balls and 41 runs in 31balls. Tarique Hussian was the pick of the bowelrs with his spell of 3/34 in 4 overs. Bikash Lama also made a significant impact, bowling 4 overs, giving away 14 runs, and securing 2 crucial wickets.
Rising CC, in reply, scored 132/10 in 18 overs. Chandan Kumar top scored with scoring 24 runs in 24 balls, while Shankar Thakuri contributed 23 runs in 19 balls. Samir Sahani and David Wahlang led the bowling attack for XI Star CC, with Samir Sahani delivering a commendable performance, bowling 4 overs, conceding 18 runs, and claiming 4 wickets, while David Wahlang bowled 4 overs, giving away 19 runs and taking 4 wickets. XI Star CC emerged victorious by 20 runs, with Samir Sahani named the Player of the Match for his crucial 4-wicket haul.
In the second match, Momentum CC took on Laimer CC in a contest that proved one sided. Momentum won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a massive total of 195/8 wickets in 20 overs. Allrounder Pritam Singh shone with the bat, scoring an explosive 80 runs in 44 balls, while skipper Kenny Wann added 53 runs in 34 balls. The bowling efforts of Sunny Rai and Iainehskhem Marbaniang for Laimer CC were noteworthy, with Sunny Rai bowling 4 overs, giving away 38 runs, and taking 3 wickets, and Iainehskhem Marbaniang bowling 2 overs, conceding 20 runs while securing 2 wickets.
In response, Laimer CC XI failed to chase down the target, scoring 85/9 wickets in 20 overs. Kitdor played a pivotal role with the bat, scoring 23 runs in 27 balls, and Settlelight Diengdoh contributed 15 runs in 24 balls. Firstbornwell Nongdhar and Eeshant Chettri were instrumental in the bowling department for Momentum, with Firstbornwell Nongdhar delivering 4 overs, giving away 11 runs and taking 4 wickets, and Eeshant Chettri bowling 4 overs, conceding 24 runs while claiming 2 wickets.
Momentum emerged victorious by a massive 110-run margin, and Pritam Singh was named the Player of the Match for his impressive knock of 80 runs and for claiming 1 wicket.
