Players converge in Tura for Meghalaya Games

Tura, Jan 9, 2024: As the much-anticipated Meghalaya Games 2024 draws near, athletes from all corners of the state have begun arriving in Tura, West Garo Hills, gearing up for the grand sporting extravaganza set to kick off on January 15.
With just a few days remaining before the opening ceremony, preparations are in full swing to ensure a spectacular start to the event. Football teams representing various districts have already made their way to Tura, with the inaugural football matches scheduled to commence on Thursday at the Chandmary playground.
As of Tuesday, male football players have checked in, while the arrival of their female counterparts is expected on Wednesday morning. Upon reaching the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Tura for registration, the athletes were warmly welcomed, each receiving a traditional Garo stole. From the ISBT, they were efficiently transported to their designated accommodations.
The Games, slated to unfold from January 15 to 20, will be inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu, adding a significant touch to the opening ceremony. As anticipation builds, the entire state awaits the commencement of Meghalaya Games 2024, promising a week of fierce competition and sportsmanship.
With meticulous preparations underway and the arrival of talented players, the stage is set for an exhilarating week of sportsmanship and spirited competition.
As the grand opening ceremony approaches, the spotlight will shine on President Droupadi Murmu, who will inaugurate the festivities, marking a momentous occasion for Meghalaya.
