Meghalaya trio earns call-up for AIFF U-16 women’s trials

Shillong, Jan 13: In a significant achievement, three talented young footballers from Meghalaya have received a call-up from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to participate in trials for the U-16 women’s national team.
Saphapaya Lyngdoh, Bonifilla Shullai, and Larihun Songthiang, who showcased their prowess in the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship, have been selected for the trials scheduled to take place in Goa from January 20 to 22, 2024.
The trio’s exceptional performances during the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship did not go unnoticed, earning them the opportunity to vie for a spot in the U-16 women’s national team.
Last year, Meghalaya had an impressive run in the championship, reaching the semifinals.
Bonifilia and Larihun, the goal-scoring duo, played pivotal roles in the team’s success, showcasing their attacking prowess.
Saphapaya Lyngdoh, a defender, also played a crucial role in Meghalaya’s performance in the championship.
The trio’s collective efforts and standout performances have not only contributed to the success of their team but have now brought them to the attention of national selectors.
The upcoming trials in Goa from January 20 to 22, 12024 will provide Saphapaya, Bonifilla, and Larihun with a platform to showcase their skills and compete for a coveted spot in the U-16 women’s national team.
