Meghalaya trio earns call-up for AIFF U-16 women’s trials

Shillong, Jan 13: In a significant achievement, three talented young footballers from Meghalaya have received a call-up from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to participate in trials for the U-16 women’s national team.
Saphapaya Lyngdoh, Bonifilla Shullai, and Larihun Songthiang, who showcased their prowess in the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship, have been selected for the trials scheduled to take place in Goa from January 20 to 22, 2024.
The trio’s exceptional performances during the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship did not go unnoticed, earning them the opportunity to vie for a spot in the U-16 women’s national team.
Last year, Meghalaya had an impressive run in the championship, reaching the semifinals.
Bonifilia and Larihun, the goal-scoring duo, played pivotal roles in the team’s success, showcasing their attacking prowess.
Saphapaya Lyngdoh, a defender, also played a crucial role in Meghalaya’s performance in the championship.
