Magh Bihu
The Sankardev Cultural Centre, Bishnupur, will celebrate ‘Magh Bihu 2024’ on Sankardev Namghar premises on Monday. The celebrations will begin at 9:30 am. As part of the festivities, a significant event during Magh Bihu, the ritual of lighting bonfires known as ‘Meji’, will also be held. Gathered around the bonfire, participants will engage in singing of traditional Bihu songs and showcase their enthusiasm through the vibrant ‘Bihu dance’. The Meji bonfires hold symbolic significance, marking the culmination of the harvesting season and ushering in the commencement of a new agricultural cycle.
