Shillong, Jan 14: Galaxy emerged champions in inaugural Jerlie E. Tariang Memorial Knockout Football Tournament in city on Saturday.
Sainborlang Banjop Welfare Association successfully concluded the inaugural Jerlie E. Tariang Memorial Knockout Football Tournament, which commenced on December 16, 2023. The closing ceremony, held at Shon Roy Basan Field in Lummawbah on Saturday, showcased an intense final match between Galaxy and Super Striker, vying for the coveted title.
Padmashree Badaplin War, an esteemed personality, graced the event as the chief guest, joined by Association members, community leaders, and enthusiastic supporters eager to witness the thrilling competition.
The first half of the game witnessed numerous attempts from both teams, yet neither managed to secure a goal. However, the momentum shifted in the second half when Galaxy clinched a goal, ultimately emerging victorious in the tournament.During the awards ceremony, Rickymond Muktieh of Super Striker was honored as the Best Player, while the Top Scorer title went to Iari Shanpru of Galaxy.
