The Elite XI, Power Grid continue winning run

Shillong, Jan 15: The Shillong Cricket League 3rd Division 2024 witnessed two gripping matches on Monday. In the first match, Laitkor CC faced off against The Elite XI in a clash that showcased intense competition.
Opting to bowl first, Laitkor CC were off to a great start with The Elite XI reeling at 48/5 in 8 overs. However, Arup Das and Jayanta Dey held the innings together helping their team to post a competitive 157/9 in 20 overs. Arup Das and Jayanta Dey were the top performers for The Elite XI with the bat scoring 47 (in 38 balls) and 26 (in 26 balls) respectively. Heipormi Lyngdoh was the pick of the bowlers with his spell of 3/20 in 4 overs. Aleric Wanswet also made a significant impact, bowling 4 overs, giving away 40 runs, and securing 2 crucial wickets.
Laitkor CC, in reply, scored 149/6 in 20 overs. Wanpher Phai top scored with scoring 54 runs in 56 balls, while Syrpailang Kharkongor contributed 29 runs in 34 balls. Ravi Kumar and Arup Das led the bowling attack for The Elite XI, with Ravi Kumar delivering a commendable performance, bowling 4 overs, conceding 11 runs, and claiming 4 wickets, while Arup Das bowled 4 overs, giving away 29 runs and taking 1 wicket.
The Elite XI emerged victorious by a narrow 8-run margin, with Ravi Kumar named the Player of the Match.
In the second match, Power Grid took on Young Langsning in a contest that proved one sided. Power Grid was put in to bat after Young Langsning won the toss and chose to bowl first, posting a massive total of 211/7 wickets in 20 overs. Utpal Das shone with the bat, scoring an explosive 54 runs in 27 balls, while Kumar Chettri added 35 runs in 24 balls. The bowling efforts of Gavin Nongkynrih and Damechwa Khongsngi for Young Langsning were noteworthy, with Gavin Nongkynrih bowling 4 overs, giving away 22 runs, and taking 2 wickets, and Damechwa Khongsngi bowling 3 overs, conceding 18 runs while securing 1 wicket.
In response, Young Langsning failed to chase down the target, scoring 123/9 wickets in 20 overs. Syl Wanniang played a pivotal role with the bat, scoring 40 runs in 38 balls, and Alvin Marbaniang contributed 19 runs in 13 balls. Bala Satish and Kumar Chettri were instrumental in the bowling department for Power Grid, with Bala Satish delivering 2 overs, giving away 3 runs and taking 2 wickets, and Kumar Chettri bowling 3 overs, conceding 14 runs while claiming 1 wicket.
Power Grid won the contest by 88 runs, and Utpal Das was named the Player of the Match.
