Gurugram hotel murder: Cops recover murder weapon
GURUGRAM, Jan 17: The police have recovered the weapon that was allegedly used to kill Divya Pahuja – a former Gurugram-based model and girlfriend of slain gangster Sandeep Gadoli – 15 days after she was shot dead at a hotel here.Divya, 27, was shot dead by Abhijeet Singh, the owner of Hotel City Point where she was staying. According to the police, Divya and Abhijeet were in a relationship. He shot her dead on January 2 in a fit of rage after she refused to delete some of his objectionable photographs from her mobile phone.A police officer said that the weapon used to kill Divya was recovered following a search conducted by a police team along with Gurugram civic body workers.The police recovered a pistol along with a live cartridge in bushes near Palam Vihar Mod on the Old Delhi Road.“The weapon was recovered on the instance of prime accused Abhijeet Singh. He was accompanying the police during the search operation,” Varun Dahiya, ACP (crime) said.Meanwhile, Abhijeet Singh was sent to judicial custody after the completion of his eight-day police remand on Wednesday. Divya’s body was recovered on January 13 – eleven days after she was shot dead, and was cremated on January 14 by her family members.The body was recovered from a canal in Tohana in Haryana’s Fatehabad district on January 13. Two persons gored to death by bull during Jallikattu
CHENNAI, Jan 17: Two persons were gored to death by a bull during a Jallikattu event at Siravayal in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.Among the two who succumbed to their injuries are 11-year-old boy and thirty-year-old man. They were gored by an angry bull near the entry point of the venue.The two were rushed to the hospital immediately but their lives could not be saved.The Jallikattu events or bull taming are carried out during the Pongal celebrations in Tamil Nadu. Pongal is the biggest harvest festival of Tamil Nadu and marks the advent of a new Tamil year.Several big and small Jallikattu events are held in several districts of the state of Tamil Nadu with huge participation of people. Suspected terrorist with links to ISIS arrested
ALIGARH, Jan 17: A suspected terrorist linked to the ISIS was arrested from Aligarh in UP on Wednesday, the state’s Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) said.Faizan Bakhtiyar was wanted by the ATS and a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for information leading to his arrest, according to a statement.He was part of terrorist organisations ISIS’ Aligarh module and had taken admission in the Master of Social Work course of the Aligarh Muslim University, the UP Police’s ATS said in its statement.Bakhtiyar’s name came to the fore after two suspected self-radicalised terrorists Abdullah Arsalan and Maaz bin Tariq linked to the ISIS were arrested from Aligarh in November last year, it said.The ATS had seized “prohibited” literature from them.The ATS recieved a tip off of potential jihadi group formation by some radicalised people Bakhtiyar was linking people with the ISIS’s Aligarh module, the statement said.
