SHILLONG, Jan 21: The VPP’s ongoing protest is likely to intensify on Monday with party supremo Ardent M Basaiawmoit expected to take charge of the demonstration.
VPP general secretary Ricky AJ Syngkon announced that Basaiawmoit, who was absent on the first day of the protest on Friday, would be present from 10 am to 4:30 pm to pressurise the state government to reinstate the three Lokayukta officials who were fired.
“I don’t know, but we will continue with the agitation in the interest of our state,” Syngkon responded when asked how large the protest would be in light of the announcement that it would be intensified.
He continued, “I hope common sense wins out, they use their wisdom, and they correct the serious error which is unconstitutional and illogical.”
Asked if the protest would be held in front of the Secretariat or the DC’s office, Syngkon said, “All I can say is we will go ahead with the protest.”
