Ampareen elected as MAA president

Shillong, Jan 22: Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh was unanimously elected as the president of the Meghalaya Athletics Association (MAA) during the annual general meeting (AGM) held recently at Tura.
This is the first time that the AGM was held outside Shillong. The newly elected office bearers include EMH Passah as the senior vice president, Salja Marak, D Ryntathiang and Joey Marbaniang as the vice presidents, Finely Pariat as the secretary, Daisy Marwein as the senior joint secretary, P Lamare and Pleasantly Synnah as the two joint secretaries and P Rapthap as the treasurer besides four executive members.
All the office bearers were elected uncontested. All affiliated districts were present in the meeting. The activities of the association and the audited accounts were presented and accepted by the members.
The main discussion in this meeting is how to improve Athletics and to participate in the National Inter Districts Junior Athletics Meet, held every year to promote young talent in the districts which is mandatory for districts to take part.
