Shillong, January 24: The Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police in Mumbai’s Mira Road have issued a directive to group administrators on instant messaging and social media platforms.
As per India the order aims to prevent the forwarding of jokes, videos, or any content related to recent clashes, with the goal of maintaining communal harmony. Administrators are warned of potential action if the order is violated. The directive follows a recent communal clash during a vehicle rally in Naya Nagar, resulting in the arrest of 13 individuals.
The incident involved a rally of 10 to 12 people in three cars and motorcycles on January 21, chanting slogans in support of Lord Ram before the Ram Mandir inauguration. The rally allegedly led to a confrontation when firecrackers were burst, prompting another group to object and escalate the situation into a fight. The attackers, accused under Indian Penal Code section 307 for attempted murder, wielded wooden sticks and assaulted the individuals on the vehicles.
In response, the MBVV Police swiftly deployed a heavy police presence to maintain law and order. Simultaneously, the Mira Bhaindar Municipal Corporation took action on January 23 by demolishing “illegal” roadside stalls in the Naya Nagar area of Thane district. Among those affected was a handicapped man selling kebab pao, who claimed his stall was demolished despite renewing his license. The municipal corporation cited the stall as unauthorized, leading to its removal.
