ANTF arrests three drug peddlers in city

SHILLONG, Feb 6: Three drug peddlers including a woman were arrested by the Anti Narcotics Task Force from Lawmali, on Tuesday.
The trio was suspected of selling drugs at Lawmali Bridge.
From their possession, nitrazepam tablets, two Spasmo proxyvon (SP) tablets, ten IV syringes, six mobile phones, one butcher knife, and Rs 9710 were recovered.
According to the police the three individuals were sitting inside a vehicle near Lawmali Bridge, and the matter was alerted by the people in the area after they suspected something fishy was going on inside the vehicle.
Two of the accused persons are history-sheeter and one minor boy is the son of the accused, the police further informed.
Meanwhile, a two-wheeler belonging to one of the accused persons was found nearby and ten tobacco tins, sixty-six vials containing residues of heroin, and one damaged mobile phone were recovered.
FKJGP Shillong City General Secretary, Shane Nongrum said that stern action will be taken against people selling drugs and this was not the first instance that this has happened.
