Shillong, February 8: In response to a protest call from farmers, the Delhi Police have intensified security measures in the national capital, including border areas, according to an official statement.

“Heavy traffic is anticipated on the routes connected to Soniya Vihar, DND, Chilla, Gazipur, Sabhapur, Apsara & Loni borders on February 8,” cautioned the Delhi Traffic Police in a tweet.

As per IANS, another official mentioned that, in addition to deploying paramilitary forces, pickets, and barricades have been established along the Delhi-Haryana and Delhi-Uttar Pradesh borders.

Preceding the planned protest demonstrations by farmers in Noida and Greater Noida, the Gautam Buddha Nagar Police implemented CrPC section 144 starting Wednesday.

To address potential disruptions caused by farmers moving on tractors, the police issued a traffic advisory, urging commuters to be cautious of diversions on specific routes in the twin cities.

Farmers’ groups have been actively protesting since December 2023, advocating for increased compensation for land acquired by local development authorities.
