TURA, Feb 8: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Virendra Kumar, virtually inaugurated the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) at Tura Civil Hospital, along with 41 similar facilities across India on Thursday.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale, A Narayanaswamy, and Pratima Bhoumik, among other dignitaries.
In attendance at Tura were Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills Jagdish Chelani, Superintendent of Police, WGH Abraham T Sangma, PMU Coordinator, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Indu Verma, Joint Secretary, Social Welfare, Meghalaya Government, Sabrella Marak, Additional Deputy Commissioner, WGH, Leena Daring, District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), Tura Dr. Jakrambal Sangma, and other dignitaries.
Dr. Bollen Sangma, District Nodal Officer for ATF, TCH, emphasised the necessity of the Addiction Treatment Facility, highlighting its aim to address substance dependence and the associated legal and familial challenges. Since its inception in December 2021, the ATF has provided clinical and counseling services for individuals dependent on various substances.
During the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills Jagdish Chelani, and PMU Coordinator, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Indu Verma unveiled the Plaque, alongside representatives from other states.
