Jowai, Feb 10: Jowai, Feb 10: Many shops in Lad Rymbai and Dkhiah areas of East Jaintia Hills possessed trading licenses but the majority of them did not have a labour license, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Khliehriat Circle said.
The federation led by its president Michael Chyrmang on Saturday conducted a checking of trading licenses at Lad Rymbai and Dkhiah and found out that most shops possessed trading licenses but surprisingly many of them including teer counters did not have a labour license.
The federation has given two weeks to all those shops functioning without proper documents to obtain complete and all requisite documents failing which the organization would deal with accordingly.
At the same time, the federation questioned the JHADC’s rampant issuing of trading licenses to outsiders.
‘The JHADC has been issuing trading to anyone who applied for which in turn put the local people at risk of losing their livelihood’, the federation said.
