Life-size statue for ex-CM DD Lapang

NONGPOH, Feb 13: Former Chief Minister DD Lapang’s life-size statue was unveiled on Tuesday by the Young Minds Association of Ri-Bhoi as tribute to him for exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the people of the district and the state.
The unveiling ceremony took place at Ri-Bhoi College premises in Nongpoh, followed by a function at the College Hall.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong was the chief guest in the presence of local MLA Mayralborn Syiem, the guest of honor. Dr DD Lapang, the honoree, attended the event alongside his family members.
Notable figures present at the event were Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, Mawhati MLA Charles Marngar, president of Young Minds Association of Ri-Bhoi, Isynei Hinge, and other key figures from the district.
During the day, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, accompanied by Lapang and his family, unveiled the statue.
In his address, Lapang expressed profound gratitude to the leaders and members of the Young Minds Association of Ri-Bhoi for honouring him with the statue, symbolising his steadfast leadership and commitment to the progress and prosperity of the people in the district and the entire state.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, in his address, lauded Lapang as a great leader not only in Ri-Bhoi and Meghalaya but also as a national figure dedicated to the service and betterment of the state and the country.
Other speakers also acknowledged Lapang deserving honour for his leadership.
