SHILLONG, Feb 14: In view of the directive of the High Court of Meghalaya, Shillong police has warned those who dump materials and park vehicles at night on road thereby obstructing pedestrian movement to refrain from doing so.
East Khasi Hills district police chief, Sylvester Nontnger appealed to the people to comply with the directions for the safety of other road users and pedestrians.
It may be mentioned that the High Court had issued a direction on February 7 referring to a PIL from 2023 to restrict dumping of construction materials, carrying out activities on the roadside which pose a serious hazard to the flow of traffic and lives of pedestrians besides the overnight parking of vehicles by owners who do not have proper parking space in their premises so that right of way is not impeded.
