Shillong, Feb 16: Meghalaya BJP Mahila Morcha on Friday protested against the repeated cases of sexual assault on women meted out by TMC leaders and party-affiliated criminals in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali while also demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Terming the Sandeshkhali incident as a dark case of systemic abuse, administrative apathy, and police-criminal collusion which resulted in one of the blackest chapters in Bengal’s and India’s history, the state BJP unit demanded stringent action against every individual involved in the horrendous crime.
Vehement cries of ‘shame on Mamata’ and ‘arrest the rapists’ filled the air as agitated women members flayed the West Bengal chief minister.
State BJP Mahila Morcha President, Susuki Pariat said, “We strongly condemn the incident that took place in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal. Where are the villains? Where is Sheikh Shahjahan? Why can’t Mamata Banerjee find him? Is he hiding in her bungalow? We demand that she arrests all the culprits immediately.”
‘The incidents of exploitation of women have become a hallmark of West Bengal under Mamata’s stewardship, which is a crying shame considering she is the only woman Chief Minister in the country today. While, State BJP Mahila Morcha General Secretary, Everist Myrshing commented, “Mamata Banerjee should control the situation and if she can’t she should resign with immediate effect.”
