SHILLONG, Feb 19: The High Court of Meghalaya on Monday rejected a bail application filed by a petitioner who is said to be a member of the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
The petitioner was arrested in connection with a Special NIA Case of 2022 registered for the alleged offences punishable under various sections of the Explosive Substance Act, 1908 after which a charge sheet was filed against him.
The petitioner pleaded that there is no iota of evidence to show that he had deliberately conspired with others to commit the offence of bomb blasting under Section 6 of the Explosive Substance Act, 1908.
However, the high court found no substance in the argument of the petitioner, and dismissed the bail petition while allowing him to move the Special Court (NIA) by way of filing a fresh bail application.
