SHILLONG, Feb 22: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said that the state government is working on the exact details of the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme, mentioned by him in his budget speech.
The chief minister said that the scholarship will focus on meritorious students first.
He said that they have to decide whether it is the top 2, 5, 10 or 15 per cent of students who would benefit from the scholarship.
“We did not think it will be appropriate to mention in the budget speech the amount to be granted to the meritorious students who will be eligible for this scholarship, since they are still working out on the numbers,” Sangma said.
Chief Minister said that they have a rough idea and budget provisions have already been made.
It may be recalled that chief minister, in his budget speech, had announced that the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme will be provided in 2024-25 to meritorious students of Classes XI and XII.
