MAWKYRWAT, Feb 29: The Khasi Student’s Union (KSU) Mawkyrwat Circle on Thursday met the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) of South West Khasi Hills seeking clarification on the recruitment process for different posts at the 10-bed Integrated Ayush Hospital, Mawkyrwat, after 16 posts did not appear in the advertisement issued by the office of the DM&HO recently.
General secretary of the KSU Mawkyrwat Circle, Plosbor Kharjahrin said that according to the advertisement issued by the DM&HO’s office on February 23, 2024, only 24 posts were called for application against the total number of 40 posts, leaving 16 posts out.
The Commissioner and Secretary, Health department, on the other hand, on February 5, directed the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman of District Ayush Society, South West Khasi Hills, to conduct recruitment for all posts.
“…there may be an intention to fill up the posts through back-door recruitment which in turn will become a stumbling block for the unemployed educated youths of the district,” Kharjahrin said.
The union expressed its resentment and demanded of the DM&HO to immediately issue an advertisement for all the posts so that eligible youths can apply and appear for the interview.
Kharjahrin also said that the Union condemned the action of the Health department and requested the Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills, T Lyngwa, to intervene in the matter and instruct the DM&HO’s office to immediately advertise for all the remaining posts.
The student organsiation also urged upon the job-seekers to come forward and fight against injustice so that attempts to violate the rights of the youths will be nipped in the bud.
