NEHU wins natl debate competition

SHILLONG, March 3: NEHU emerged champion at the Sat Paul Mittal National Inter-University debate competition held at IAPPD Auditorium, New Delhi on March 1 and 2.
NEHU lauded the team – Euvelin Suchiang and Toniho S Kharsati from the Law Department for their dedication and exemplary performance at the event that witnessed fierce competition from universities across the nation.
Suchiang’s exceptional oratory skills also earned her the distinguished 2nd prize as the best debater, further showcasing NEHU’s prowess in the realm of eloquence and critical thinking.
Led by the astute guidance of Dr. Chandrakanta from the Department of Geography, as the teacher in charge, the team showcased outstanding debating finesse, impressing both judges and spectators alike.
The Sat Paul Mittal National Inter-University Debate Competition was organised by the Indian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (IAPPD), New Delhi, aiming to foster intellectual discourse and promote effective communication skills among the youth.
Dean of Students’ Welfare, Prof. R L Nongkhlaw, and faculty members from various departments at NEHU proudly announced the triumph of the university stating that the victory of the NEHU team at the national competition stands as a testament to the university’s commitment to excellence in academics, co-curricular activities, and holistic student development.
Meanwhile, NEHU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Prabha Shankar extended warm felicitations to Euvelin Suchiang, Toniho S. Kharsati, and Dr.Chandrakanta for bringing laurels to the university through their outstanding achievement.
