Rural haat comes up in WGH

TURA, March 17: A Rural Haat at Chikasingre, West Garo Hills, was inaugurated by Deputy General Manager (DGM) of NABARD Shillong, Arun Kumar, on Sunday.
The inauguration took place in the presence of Kitmiller Sangma, the District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, West Garo Hills. Also present on the occasion were Rev Fr Cyril Sangma, the director and secretary of the NGO BAKDIL, along with other BAKDIL staff, Nokma, local leaders, church members and local villagers.
The DGM, in his short speech, emphasised on the benefits villagers would get from it like safety for produce and extended selling time, leading to higher income.
Over 6,000 residents of the area are expected to benefit from the initiative.
