Group felicitates Sohra clean-up contributors

SHILLONG, March 25: The Clean Sohra Campaign, a Sohra-based environmental conservation organisation, on Monday felicitated the people involved in various cleanliness campaigns that were undertaken in Sohra in recent times.
A statement in this regard informed that during the felicitation programme, which was organised at the Office of the Syiem of Hima Sohra, the organisation had felicitated the Seng Khynnah Catholic Mawkisyiem, Sohra, and the Managing Committee of tourist spot, viz. Ka Bri Ki Synrang (Garden of Caves) Laitmawsiang, located in Sohra area.
It may be mentioned that the Seng Khynnah Catholic Mawkisyiem is a group of young children from the Catholic Church of Mawkisyiem, Sohra, who have jointly contributed towards the endeavour of making their locality a pollution and plastic-free zone. On the other hand, Ka Bri Ki Synrang, Laitmawsiang, is one of the tourist spots in Sohra that is well maintained in terms of cleanliness. The tourist spot has also been awarded ‘Best Managing Tourist Spot 2022-2023 in Sohra Region’.
“Our organisation is grateful to these two awardees for their hard work in making their places a clean surrounding and urges them to continue their work,” the Clean Sohra Campaign said, adding that it aims to conserve the environment and make the surrounding areas in Sohra a pollution-free zone.
The programme was also attended by Clean Sohra Campaign finance secretary Mesadapbor Skhembill, Hima Sohra secretary Lucia Synrem, Lhai Khongshei of Ka Bri Ki Synrang, among others.
