CEO meets enforcement officials ahead of MP polls

SHILLONG, March 28: As Lok Sabha elections draw nearer with less than a month left for the voting day in Meghalaya, Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari chaired a meeting with enforcement agencies through video conferencing on Thursday.
Nodal Officer of State Police, Income Tax, RBI, Airports Authority of India, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, State Civil Aviation, Enforcement Directorate, Department of Posts, Central Industrial Security Force, State Excise department, Railway Protection Force, Narcotics Control Bureau, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, CGST, SCGST, State Transport department, CRPF, Forest department the BSF and others, attended the meeting.  The CEO sought information from all the central agencies, besides state and district administration on seizures of cash, alcohol, drugs, freebies etc., during the ongoing Model Code of Conduct in the state.
The districts informed the CEO that flying squads and static surveillance teams were put in place, while also assuring the CEO that they will enhance vigilance to curb the use of money and alcohol for the smooth conduct of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
In conclusion, the CEO and State Police Nodal Officer requested all the districts, state and central agencies for intensified and coordinated efforts for overall improvement in the seizure and different aspects of election expenditure monitoring.
