Cops suspect murder after recovery of body with injuries

MAWKYRWAT, April 2: A 27-year-old man, hailing from Nongbah Marshillong village, has been found dead with injury marks on his neck at a paddy field in Riatthawlong under Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills.
According to the police, after getting information from a resident of Mawtle Marshillong village about the recovery of the body, who has been identified as one Pynskemlang Lyngkhoi, a team was rushed to the spot to conduct an inquiry.
The police also informed that during questioning, a relative of the victim had informed that he had left his residence on March 31 around 9 pm.
It was also informed to the police that the victim was last contacted by his elder brother, Jonesing Lyngkhoi, on Monday.  “Necessary formalities and inquest were conducted on the spot, and in the process the body was found lying with its head and belly lying towards the ground, and he had an injury mark near his neck, and bluish mark on right hand, etc. So the body was shifted to Mawkyrwat CHC for post-mortem examination to ascertain the actual cause of death,” the police said, adding that the investigation is now under way.
Meanwhile, the police also said that the injury and bluish marks suggest that Lyngkhoi may have prima facie been murdered by unknown persons.
