NEEPCO committed to clean, green energy: CMD

SHILLONG, April 2: NEEPCO Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Gurdeep Singh has reiterated the Corporation’s commitment to clean and green energy, and expressed his satisfaction at the progress made by the NEEPCO, despite the difficult conditions prevailing in the region.
Singh was addressing a gathering at the 49th foundation day celebration of NEEPCO, which was held at its corporate office in Shillong on Tuesday.
Expressing optimism about the progress of the Umiam hydel power project and pump storage projects in Meghalaya, Singh said, “I had a meeting with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma how to start the work on the pump storage projects and Umiam hydel project,” Singh said.
He also expressed confidence that NEEPCO would be able to expeditiously execute its projects with good planning and management.
On the occasion, awards for best-performing plants were also given away.
For the hydro project, Panyor Lower Hydropower station, Arunachal Pradesh, was conferred the first prize, Tuirial Hydro Power Station, Mizoram, bagged the second prize, and Pare Hydro Power Station, Arunachal Pradesh, secured the third prize.
In the thermal plant, Agartala Gas-Based Power Station won the first prize whilst Assam Gas-Based Power Station secured the second prize.
