Drug addict son burns father alive
HYDERABAD, April 5: A drug addict man has killed his father by setting him on fire on the outskirts of Hyderabad, the police said on Friday.According to the police, Tirupati Anurag (28) poured petrol on his father Tirupati Ravinder (54), and set him ablaze after an argument at their home.The accused, who is said to be mentally unstable after becoming addicted to ‘Ganja’, picked up an argument with his father Ravinder for not buying him a bike.Anurag had stored two bottles of petrol, first poured one bottle on Ravinder in a fit of rage.Ravinder, who was having lunch, ran down from the first floor to save himself. His son, holding another bottle of petrol, chased him.On the ground floor, Anurag set his father ablaze with a lighter.Anurag also smashed Ravinder’s head with a stone. (IANS)

Two Naxalites carrying Rs 16 lakh bounty surrender
SUKMA, April 5: Two Naxalites, carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh each on their heads, surrendered before the police in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Friday, and two others were arrested in the adjoining Bijapur district, officials said.Kalmu Prakash alias Sannu (28) and woman cadre Pedkam Rita (30) turned themselves in before senior police officials in Sukma, citing disappointment with “hollow” and “inhuman” Maoist ideology.The duo also said they were impressed by the district police’s rehabilitation drive ‘Puna Narkom’ (a term coined in Gondi dialect which means new dawn, new beginning).(PTI)
